A Peek at Madison Parade of Homes

I can remember clearly when my love of interior design first began. As a kid, my parents used to take my sister and me to model home tours all the time. I would take in every detail and dream about designing a room of my own (at that time, it was full on tropical themed bedroom.. I was a Florida girl after all). It's kind of amazing that my childhood dreams are coming true (though I promise, no theme rooms this time)!

Thankfully, Kyle has an appreciation for great design too, which is part of what makes writing this blog together so much fun! We found out that the Parade of Homes was coming to Madison this weekend and decided to make it an interior inspiration date with my brother & sister in law. I found out about halfway through the day that Kyle thought it was only ONE house per neighborhood (which is hilarious), so he literally had no idea what he was getting himself into. We had a blast! Who doesn't love looking at gorgeous homes?!

The Madison Parade of Homes is actually made up of 37 newly constructed homes in seven neighborhoods throughout the Madison area and runs until June 25th. We only made it to nearby Waunakee's two neighborhoods, but were totally blown away by the beautiful modern designs and inspiration. We took about a million photos and got tons of great ideas for tile patterns, cabinet colors, and room layouts. If you're interested in design, I highly recommend making your way to tour the homes!

We wanted to share a few of our favorite photos from the stops we made today. It was so hard to even narrow down which images to share because there was beauty around every corner. Though the homes we saw had significantly higher budgets than ours, it's fun to think about what elements we can incorporate into our future modern farmhouse build.

I think it's taken Madison a little bit longer to jump on to the modern rustic design trend, but I'm happy to say it's here in all its glory. A few of the elements we loved most were the subway tile (in all kinds of formats), large eat-in islands, barn door sliders, shiplap, board and batten siding, standing seam metal roofs, and cozy screened in porches.

This is literally a 1/10 of the photos the two of us snapped on our phones. I love HGTV and design magazines, but seeing absolutely amazing homes in person is good for my decor loving soul. Fellow design lovers, get yourself to Parade of Homes over the next couple of weeks to soak up some inspiration. Apologies in advance if you walk away convinced that you need a movie theater in your basement or wine cellar!
